El Portil has always been used as a beach resort by Spanish holidaymakers; but in recent years the town's grown considerably, enhancing the area's
infrastructure and also bringing more people onto these sands. It's almost four kilometres long, an average of 40 metres wide and it's situated
next to the El Portil Lagoon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's the last beach in Punta Umbría before you get to the municipality of
Cartaya.
