La Antilla and El Portil border an area of wider beaches influenced by two nature reserves: Reserva Natural
Laguna de El Portil and Paraje Natural Marismas del Río Piedras y Flecha de El Rompido.
At the mouth of the Río Piedras (Stony River) you can find a sand spit called Nueva Umbría beach: (12
kilometres of unspoilt beach).
La Antilla, El rompido and El Portil beaches have, on the other hand, all the amenities you would expect for
a modern holiday beach resort.
